Congratulations to the Women’s National Field Hockey Team!—USOC "Team of the Month" for October for winning Gold in the Pan American games and qualifying for the London Olympics. As the Olympic Games near, both the indoor and outdoor versions of field hockey are getting more buzz at home and abroad, where it is even more popular.
For facilities offering or considering field hockey, it’s a good time to be promoting the sport and your facility. The US Women’s National Field Hockey Team won Gold by beating reigning champion Argentina. London is looking good! Add that youth programs in field hockey are rapidly gaining in popularity.

If your facility wants to plan concurrent field hockey events, the London competition schedule runs from July 29 to August 11. The new London hockey pitch is blue and pink just in case you want to color co-ordinate!
Both the men’s and women’s field hockey competitions begin with preliminaries: The 12 teams in each event are divided into two pools of six, which play a round-robin. The two best teams in each pool qualify for the semi-finals, the winners of which go head-to-head for Olympic Gold!
