January 11, 2013 (VIRGINIA BEACH, VA)—The United States Indoor Sports Association is proud to announce two recent additions to its staff.
Steve Smith, Membership Manager
Existing members may remember USIndoor's new Membership Manager, Steve Smith, from his 1995-2010 tenure with long-time facility member, Plano Sports Authority, during which he was also active as a USIndoor Conference speaker and on USIndoor's Members-Only Committee. PSA remains one of the largest, if not the largest, private non-profit youth sports organization in the United States, with over 50,000 participants in multiple indoor and outdoor sports. As Chief Administrative Officer, Steve was responsible for overseeing accounting, facilities, insurance and legal issues, corporate sponsorships, concessions, IT, and retail uniform/equipment sales. He was also heavily involved in the construction phases of PSA’s first two facilities that housed multi-use courts, turf, ice and a martial arts studio.
Steve's background in sports organization, corporate sponsorship, and facility planning and construction make him uniquely aware of the needs of USIndoor's different membership classifications. Returning to USIndoor, Steve will be reaching out to all of USIndoor's members to ensure they are optimizing their benefits and engaging ways that will help them in their business lives and stay connected.
Michael Horn, Electronic Media Manager
USIndoor’s new Electronic Media Manager is Michael Horn. He is a 2012 graduate from Syracuse University where he obtained a master’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism with an emphasis on sports communications. Shortly before joining USIndoor, Michael interned with the Major Indoor Soccer League’s Syracuse Silver Knights during its inaugural season. His duties included handling much of the team’s communications, including writing official press releases and game previews and recaps. He also managed the team’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and created content on YouTube. Michael brings these skills to USIndoor to further develop USIndoor’s social media strategy, connect with members and address and fulfill their online needs and benefits.
Michael urges all members to follow USIndoor on Facebook and Twitter and join one or more of USIndoor's private forums or subgroups on LinkedIn, which each target facility members, startup and expanding facilities, or indoor soccer referees.
