Certified Arena Operator

Rules & Regulations

The CAO Credential and Renewal

  • Candidates who earn the “Certified Arena Operator” credential attend and complete an intensive two-day curriculum presented by USIndoor at its annual national conference and pass a written exam.

Once certified, CAOs earn a minimum of 4 continuing education units each year and 16 units over a two-year period, at least 8 of which are acquired from in-person presentations of approved subject matter by CAO instructors.

Up to 4 units may be carried over from one renewal period to the next. In the case of extenuating circumstances, USIndoor may grant up to 3 months grace period to allow a CAO to meet his or her bi-annual education requirements. For those who utilize this grace period, the CAO’s anniversary date, and all requirements pursuant thereto, remain unchanged.

Individuals whose CAO credentials have expired must again complete the curriculum and written exam at USIndoor’s annual conference to regain the credential.

Exam

  • To attain their certification, CAOs must complete a take-home exam within the time proscribed in the exam’s written instructions.

Annual Fee

  • The annual certification fee is $150, subject to USIndoor’s annual review. Annual certification fees are waived for all attendees of USIndoor’s annual conference and of the two-day intensive CAO class. In rare instances, USIndoor may grant lifetime honoraria, subject to its discretion.

Record Keeping

  • USIndoor will endeavor to maintain records of education units earned by CAOs. The ultimate responsibility, however, shall rest on the individual to maintain certified records and submit proof, as USIndoor may request.
