JIM
CLINE, Principal, The Goals Group
A
former general manager with several indoor soccer companies, Jim consults
full-time for facilities all across America. Founder and principal of
The Goals Group, an indoor soccer consulting firm based in Columbus,
Ohio, Jim has been involved with soccer teams, soccer stores, and indoor
facilities for more than twenty years. He is on the boards of several
youth soccer associations in two states and has operated more than 50
youth soccer tournaments. His career has included more than twenty years
in real estate development, commercial design and construction for several
national firms. Jim was recognized recently by Major League Soccer as
one of the top 100 soccer leaders in Ohio. His practice is limited to
indoor soccer facilities and their related operations. He has been the
featured indoor soccer speaker at the Athletic Business Conference.
In addition to current projects in Illinois, Michigan, New York, New
Jersey, Indiana, California, Georgia, and Texas, Jim recently designed
and opened The Soccer Spot in Grand Rapids, Michigan, one of the largest
and most modern facilities in the United States. He is also an indoor
soccer consultant to indoor equipment manufacturers and vendors as well
as development groups, non-profit organizations, and municipal parks
and recreation departments.
STEVE
MICHENER AND NORM GILL , Pinnacle Indoor Sports
Founded
by the principals of Soccer Blast International, Pinnacle Indoor Sports
provides a complete range of consulting services utilizing the expertise
gained developing the national Soccer/Sports Blast chain of facilities.
Rather than selling you on a pre-conceived template, the Pinnacle partners
approach each opportunity with the goal of analyzing and adapting tried-and-true
techniques to the unique aspects of each location and situation.

Steve
Michener, Managing Partner, brings to Pinnacle the combination
of a strong business background plus direct involvement with US Youth
Soccer. Before joining Soccer Blast, Steve had been the Chief Operating
Officer of a Fortune 500 insurance company and President of the Minnesota
Youth Soccer Association. Having been involved in investing in and managing
two Soccer Blast facilities, he is current with the ins-and-outs of
the revenue generation and operational detail required of a successful
indoor sports facility.
Norm
Gill, Partner,
is the founder of Soccer Blast International,
one of the nation’s largest and most successful developers of
indoor sports complexes. Prior to founding Soccer Blast International,
Norm was
principal owner of a construction company specializing in design/build
industrial construction projects. Norm’s expertise includes location
selection, business planning and financing. He is also responsible for
the day-to-day financial and operational matters for corporately owned
Soccer/Sports Blast facilities. Norm is currently a member of USIndoor’s
Advisory Board of Directors
MIKE
WEIS, Owner and President, Epic Center
Mike
Weis is the owner, developer, and manager of the Epic Center, a
90,000 sq. ft. multi-sport recreational facility indoor/outdoor sports
facility, located in Williamsville, New York. Built in 1996, the Epic
Center's activities include basketball, field
hockey, football, in-line hockey, lacrosse volleyball, tae kwon do,
outdoor soccer and, of course, indoor soccer. Formerly with M&T
Bank, Mike has started and sold businesses in equipment leasing, real
estate, computer systems and custom software distribution. He was the
director of the Institute for Entrepreneurial Programs and workshops
at the Center for Entrepreneurship at Canisius College. In connection
therewith, he aided Western New York entrepreneurs in the development
and implementation of their business plans. Mike's consulting work continues
throughout North America.
KENT
GOLD, Founder, Arena Sports
Kent
Gold built and grew Arena Sports, located in the Northwest
United States and Canada, to five facilities in five years. The original
Arena Sports in Seattle is considered one of the nation's most successful
sports facilities in terms of profit and revenue.
Having
relocated to Spokane, Kent now focuses full-time on consulting.
His clients include some of the largest operators of indoor soccer
facilities, as well as single facility start-ups. Kent's expertise
includes business plan development, facility operations, site
selection and new facility construction. He has developed a successful
operations philosophy based on the customer experience. Kent possesses
an Engineering degree and an MBA. His background includes 12 years
with Boeing designing airplanes and business managing software.
He also works with the Small Business Administration consulting
small businesses and has lectured at Seattle University. Kent
played and coached indoor soccer for many years before he opened
Arena Sports and still enjoys playing.
The
Sports Facilities Advisory is a nationally recognized
business development consultancy with offices in Tampa Bay, Florida,
and Metro Detroit, Michigan. Operated by a team of accomplished
sports facility operators, business advisors, league sports experts,
corporate team development professionals, and architects, SFA

Bryan
L. Finnerty, Co-Founder and President
Bryan opened and owns High Velocity Sports Center in Canton, Michigan.
This 120,000 sq/ft building opened in 2001 as the premier indoor
soccer and roller hockey facility in the country. Today the facility
is managed by Bryan’s full-time team of facility managers, staff,
advertising representatives and event coordinators. As the President
and Co-Founder of SFA, Bryan’s real world experience with High
Velocity keeps him in touch with the day-to-day realities of operating
a profitable, systemized sports facility. Bryan’s ability to produce
results for SFA’s clients comes from his background as a professional
athlete, entrepreneur and indoor facility owner.

AMANDA J. ABATE, Grant Services
Over the past ten years working in the nonprofit community, principally involving youth services, Amanda has raised millions of dollars from foundations, corporate donors and individual philanthropists. Her skills range from program development and grant-writing to financial management and reporting and include grant research, donor cultivation, communication services, public speaking, volunteer management and special events. She received a B.A. in Sports Science and Health from the University of Richmond. In her spare time she enjoys reading, running, cooking and playing slave and master to her beloved English Springer Spaniel Rosemary.
