Rules & Regulations

The CAO Credential and Renewal

Candidates who earn the "Certified Arena Operator" credential attend and complete an intensive two-day curriculum presented by USIndoor at its annual national conference and pass a written exam.

Once certified, CAOs retain their certification so long as they earn continuing education units by attending USIndoor's Annual Conference at least once every other year and by paying prescribed dues for any year they do not attend. Under special circumstances, CAOs may apply to USIndoor to obtain a requisite number of CEUs in place of attending a Conference. Examples of additional ways to earn CEUs are set forth below.

Individuals whose CAO credentials have expired must again complete the curriculum and written exam at USIndoor's annual conference to regain the credential.

Exam

To attain their certification, CAOs must complete a take-home exam within the prescribed time.

Annual Fee

The annual certification fee is $150, subject to USIndoor's annual review. Annual certification fees are waived for attendees of USIndoor's annual conference or of the two-day intensive CAO class during the period just completed. In rare instances, USIndoor may grant honoraria, based on its discretion.

Record Keeping

USIndoor will endeavor to maintain records of education units earned by CAOs. The ultimate responsibility, however, shall rest on the individual to maintain certified records and submit proof, as USIndoor may request.
