USIndoor Sanctions National Indoor Championship The United States Indoor Soccer Association last week sent invitations to over 700 indoor soccer facilities to participate in its first ever National Indoor Championship. [Respond Here.] First announced at USIndoor’s June Conference, USIndoor officially joins Soccer Excellence (aka the National Indoor Soccer Championships) in the venture, instantly making the NIC the marquee indoor soccer event of the year. “We expect the National Indoor Championship to become a springboard for our industry,” said USIndoor president Don Shapero, “now and for the future, with expansion plans calling for recreational and non-boarded events for everyone.” Leading up to the inaugural 2009 Finals in Las Vegas, NV (Thursday-Sunday, April 16-19), the National Indoor Championship will feature four adult divisions: Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Over 30 and Co-ed. Youth division play will be available on a more regional level. Team Finalists will qualify either through sanctioned Regional Qualifiers or other local tournaments sanctioned by USIndoor’s National Tournament Committee. USIndoor facility members can take part immediately by hosting competitions or fielding teams. Hosts can benefit from tournament fees, ticket sales, concessions, merchandising and local sponsorship, which can exceed that of a typical weekend—in addition to the positive publicity and goodwill. Soccer Excellence, because of its expertise, can also help ensure the largest impact possible. With 2009 regional sites now being set, time is of the essence.
