USIndoor to Hold Certification Class for Facility Operators

WASHINGTON, DC (April 17, 2008)—The United States Indoor Soccer Association (USIndoor) will host its second certification class for sport facility operators June 25-26, 2008, at the Westin Alexandria, VA (just outside of Washington, DC), in conjunction with the association’s annual Facility Operators Conference & Trade Show.  Individuals who successfully complete the program’s course and pass the exam will receive the designation, “Certified Arena Operator” (CAO).  Last year’s inaugural class drew over 40 attendees.

Designed for those serious about running a recreational sports facility or having a career in facility management, the CAO Program seeks to (1) increase the knowledge and skill level of arena operators, (2) enhance the professionalism of sport facility management and (3) recognize those who demonstrate a fundamental level of proficiency in indoor sports operations.

Curriculum topics include: needs assessment and feasibility, facility planning, the business model, management practices, human resources, financial operations, legal considerations, marketing, advertising and public relations, referee training and management, customer service, program development (including ancillary programming), operations (including insurance, HVAC, emergency systems, security, etc.) sponsorship sales, and ancillary revenue streams such as retail sales, video games, and concessions.
