MARTÍNEZ RECEIVES OLMECAN "FIGHTER 2005" AWARD
The
Award Committee and the Directive Council of CODEME (Confederacion
Deportiva Mexicana) has granted Genoni Martinez Olvera the highest
recognition for an athlete: “Olmecan Fighter.”
Martinez,
a left-footed defender and native of Mexico City, born February
22, 1975, plays professionally for the St. Louis Steamers of the
Major Indoor Soccer League. He will receive the distinction as the
best player of the year in the sport of Futbol Rapido/Indoor Soccer
during an official ceremony on December 9 in the José García Cervantes
Auditorium, located at CODEME’s official headquarters in Mexico
City.
The
award has typically recognized only outdoor soccer players for their
sportsmanship and leadership. As "Sportsman of the Year 2005,"
Martinez opens a new door for players of Futbol Rapido/Indoor Soccer
in Mexico. Congratulation to Genoni Martinez for the recognition
as a player, for his professionalism and sportsmanship, and for
his impact on the sport of "Futbol Rapido."
