MISL CHAMPIONSHIP ON ESPN2

WESTPORT, CONNECTICUT – The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) and ESPN, the worldwide leader in sports, jointly announced that the League's 2006 MISL Championship Series Final will be televised live on ESPN2 for the second consecutive season. The exclusive agreement features the deciding game of the 2006 MISL Championships on Sunday, April 30, at 1:00 p.m. ET.

“I am extremely pleased that we have been able to continue our relationship with ESPN for a second straight season,” stated MISL Commissioner Steve Ryan. “Once again, I applaud the MISL Management Committee for their unanimous support in revising the format of our Championship Series Finals in order to enhance the visibility of our sport and maximize our national exposure. The MISL is a made-for-television product and I look forward to solidifying a long-term global media partnership as we continue to grow our sport and expand our League.”

The format for the 2006 MISL Championship Series Finals is a two-game, “home-and-home” series featuring the winners of the Championship Series Semifinals. In the event that the finalists split their two games, the 2006 MISL Champion will be determined by a “Golden Goal” session, which will immediately follow the conclusion of Game Two. The MISL had initially announced a best-of-three format for the Championship Series Finals.

In the Championship Series Semifinals, to be played over two weekends which began April 15, the No. 4 seed Chicago Storm match up against the No. 1 seed and Regular Season Champion St. Louis Steamers, and the No. 3 seed Baltimore Blast plays the No. 2 seed and defending MISL Champion Milwaukee Wave. The winners proceed to the Finals, scheduled the weekend of April 28th.
