MISL RELEASES 2005-06 SCHEDULE
Kansas City and Cleveland Out, Stockton In
WESTPORT,
Conn.– Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Commissioner Steve
Ryan has announced details for the 2005-06 season.
The
Kansas City Comets will go dormant for two seasons, while plans
unfold for a new arena, and the Cleveland Force is out, pending
the League's ability to attract new owners. Meanwhile, Kansas City
Investor/Operator Don Kincaid will remain active as Chair of the
MISL Finance Committee, and the California Cougars (Stockton, CA),
join the league, despite unexpected delays in the completed construction
of its arena, bringing to number of teams competing this season
to six.
The
2005-06 season schedule has each MISL team playing a 30-game regular-season
schedule (15 home/15 away) over 22 weeks, beginning on November
6 and concluding on April 9. California's home opener is scheduled
December 9.
Commented
MISL Commissioner Ryan, “The Management Committee is unified in
its belief that the MISL is strong at its core and is poised for
rapid growth, as is evidenced by last season’s addition of the Chicago
Storm, this season’s debut of the California Cougars, our up-and-running
Detroit expansion club for the 2006-07 season, and the MISL Newark
Club (under NHL New Jersey Devils ownership) for the 2007-08 season.
In addition, there are several other cities with accompanying ownership
interests presently under review by the MISL.”
As
per League Policy, the MISL will hold a Dispersal Draft on Thursday,
September 22, 2005, for the allocation of players formerly belonging
to the Kansas City Comets and the Cleveland Force. Results from
the Dispersal Draft will be available shortly after its completion.
