Wave Overcome PASL All-Stars in School-Day Exhibition
Milwaukee,
WI (December 21, 2005) – The Wave’s 9-2 victory over the
Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL) All-Stars sent the Wave’s enthusiastic
young fans home happy. As part of a school-day promotion with CNI
Newspapers, the Wave competed in front of many southeastern Wisconsin
students.
Semir
Mesanovic got the Wave on the board first and Kyt Selaidopoulos
followed with another goal to give Milwaukee a 2-0 lead. By the
end of the first quarter, the Wave led the PASL All-Stars 3-1. With
Walter Blake tallying his second goal of the game in the second
quarter and Hewerton adding the Wave’s second goal of the period,
Milwaukee led at halftime, 5-1.
The Wave continued to put pressure on the PASL All-Stars in the
second half as they outscored their opponents 3-0 in the third quarter.
Piper Lee, Angel Rivillo and Wave legend, Steve Morris, each put
one in the net. The teams traded goals in the fourth quarter for
the final 9-2 margin.
Goalkeeper,
Brian Rowland, made his Wave debut and allowed just one goal in
three quarters of play. Forward, Johnny Torres, was in a giving
mood as he assisted on four of Milwaukee’s scores. Overall, it was
a balanced offensive attack (seven different members of the Wave
scored a goal) combined with a good defensive effort that sent the
Wave to the victory.
Each
student received a curriculum designed to combine their interest
in soccer and sports with education. Informational booths were set
up around the U.S. Cellular Arena during the game. As part of the
program, schools were visited by members of the Wave who discussed
the values of an education and how it applies to their lives and
sports.
The
Wave resumes league play on December 31 at 1:05 p.m. against the
California Cougars. Milwaukee will take aim at a franchise-best
8-0 start against California. Fans can take advantage of the Piggly
Wiggly Family Four Pack on New Year’s Eve where they can get four
$14 tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for $50. For more information
on tickets, call the Wave office at 414-224-WAVE (9283); groups
